Labor & Birth

Our team is on-call 24/7/365, with a dedicated line to reach the on-call midwife at any time of day or night. Our goal is to support each family in having a normal, natural, safe, and healthy birth, either in the comfort of their own home, or in our home-like birth suite.

Birth Center

We currently offer the option of birthing in our beautiful, home-like birth center in Winchester, VA. We will soon be opening a new birth center and are excited to share more when that space opens!

Transfers

While most births are normal and can safely happen at home or a birth center, sometimes we need to utilize the resources of a hospital. In those cases, we transfer to either the nearest hospital (in case of an emergency) or the hospital of the client's choice (in a non-emergency situation). Whenever possible, the midwife goes with the client to help smooth the transfer of care and get everyone settled at the hospital.

After a transfer, we welcome clients back to care to continue our normal postpartum care schedule. Whether a baby is born into our hands or not, they are always one of "our" babies.

Home Birth

We offer home birth in the Winchester, VA, area, including Front Royal, Berryville, and Cross Junction; and in the Berkeley County area of West Virginia. For additional travel fees, we also serve areas up to a 90 minute radius from Winchester or Martinsburg.
