Looking for Premier Birth Center in Winchester? You've found it! We have a new name and new website! Same compassionate midwifery care!
Prenatal Care
The prenatal period is an important and formative time for not only the baby, but also the mother. Midwifery care aims to create a healthy, holistic atmosphere where both can thrive.
Labs and Tests
We collect blood and urine samples for standard lab tests in the office and run them through LabCorp. We have discounted rates for those who do not have insurance coverage. We can send clients to Patient Service Centers if they need to get labs on a day we are not in the office.
Genetic testing, including NIPT, is available. We offer multiple options for glucose testing, including the organic Fresh Test. Testing for Group B Strep can be performed by the client herself, making it less uncomfortable. Additional testing is available for clients with specific concerns or health factors.
Ultrasounds are ordered by the midwife at one of a choice of several local imaging centers. The anatomy scan is required for all clients, while first-trimester and third-trimester ultrasounds are based on each client's situation.
Shared Decision Making
Our goal throughout care is to participate in shared decision-making. This means that we provide information to our clients so that they can make the best decisions for themselves, while also building a relationship of trust such that when we do have to make decisions for them, they know we are doing so with their best interests in mind.
This approach means parents have greater responsibility for learning and making choices. The care team is available to offer evidence-based information and resources to help parents make those decisions.
Routine Prenatal Visits
Starting in the first trimester, we see clients every 4 weeks for routine care. At 28 weeks, those visits increase to every 2 weeks. From 36 weeks on, we see clients weekly.
Our visits are scheduled for 45-60 minutes each. This gives us time to get to know one another better, answer all questions fully, and explore topics related to pregnancy, nutrition, and mental health.
