The day after Christmas, I woke up to some surprising emails from Facebook. My Rooted Birth Midwifery & Wellness page was no longer attached to its parent account. My personal profile (that I'd had for more than 18, rule-following years) had been deleted. My opportunity at a review of their decision? Already taken, and denied. No more options. Nothing I can do.

It's a weird world we live in, that an online presence feels so deeply rooted to who we are in the real world, but the entanglement of the two is only deepening these days. Losing my personal account (which I'm still hoping to recover, but so far has been unfruitful) was bad enough. At least the RBMW account was still there! I couldn't administrate it or add posts, but I figured there would be a path to rectifying that. Then, last week, I discovered that it, too, has been disabled. Our former-sister page, Premier Birth Center, was also hacked.

At this point, it seems unlikely Facebook will be helpful in resurrecting these accounts. Too much is automated and bot-based, where a human could easily look at the situation and see that it's all been a mistake. So, like in the days of new phones and new numbers, we're starting over!

Please join us at our new Facebook page, Rooted Birth Midwifery & Wellness, where you'll continue to find educational, inspiring, and uplifting content for all stages of motherhood. We were at almost 1000 followers before the hacking; please share and help us rebuild our following! But, most of all, know that even with these unfortunate online changes, nothing has changed about our practice in real-life.
