Introducing Rooted Birth Midwifery & Wellness

I am delighted to introduce you to the new face of Premier Birth Center in Winchester, VA, now known as Rooted Birth Midwifery & Wellness. Rooted Birth continues to offer midwifery care for families in the Shenandoah Valley region, from Front Royal and Linden, to Berkeley Springs and Martinsburg, and from Romney and Capon Bridge to Berryville and Bluemont. All of these areas are now in our expanded zone for home births (travel fees may apply), meaning even more families have the option of enjoying the tranquility of birth in their own homes.

We also continue to offer births in our home-like birth center, currently in the same location where Premier Birth Center in Winchester has been for more than 8 years. Soon, we expect to be announcing a new location, which we are very excited about!

Some things haven't changed at all. Namely, our staff is the same group of caring women who have served clients as Premier Birth Center Winchester over the last two years. As midwife here since the summer of 2022, I remain committed to offering the highest quality care possible to families seeking midwifery care and community birth options. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of each family's journey, wherever it takes us, and I can't imagine anything more rewarding to do with my life.

When considering renaming Premier Birth Center, I considered a lot of options (I mean a lot!). I ultimately chose Rooted Birth because it speaks to me of strength and resilience, as well as the foundation that midwifery creates for pregnancy and birth.

When I think of strength and resilience, I think of every pregnant and laboring woman, working hard with their bodies and babies, no matter where their paths take them. For some, it's an ideal water birth; for others, it's a challenging labor or a c-section. What I get to marvel in at every birth is how strong and capable mothers are, whatever comes.

Rooted Birth also feels personal to me. It reflects the strength and resilience I've needed to get to this place in my life, one that I dreamed of through more than a decade of hard work and challenges. My personal foundation that keeps me rooted every day is a God who has kept me sustained despite everything that's been thrown at me. My children, also, keep me grounded and centered on what matters most.

I hope that Rooted Birth will be a resource to uphold and strengthen mothers and families as they journey through pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Thank you for inviting me along.
